Bear River Refuge (Nov 2016)

Did dishes, cleaned house and headed to Utah.  I stopped at one of my favorite birding spots the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge for a bit of birding.

Birds of the Refuge:

  • American Kestrel
  • Red breasted mergansers
  • American coots
  • Mallard
  • Northern harriers
  • Common ravens
  • California gulls
  • Ring billed gulls
  • Western grebes
  • Great blue herons
  • Bonapartes gulls
  • Trumpeter swans
  • American avocets

I usually only get to this refuge in the spring and summer when birds are in their breeding finest.  I found it a bit odd to see the avocets without the dreamsicle coloring.

Then on to SLC to pick up Melinda from the airport. We then headed East to Green River WY.  The car navigation system lied to us (again). This time trying to convince us that Green River WY was at least another 30 miles down the road.  Bad nav system! There’s a reason I call her Lash (read the Dresden Novels by Jim Butcher to fully understand the reference).
