Time Travel: Birding Missoula – 2008

Birding in Missoula April 17, 2008

I had the opportunity to spend a couple of days in Missoula and on a chilly afternoon went birding. I went to two highly recommended locations: 1) Maclay Flats https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/lolo/recarea/?recid=10274 and 2) Greenough Park https://www.allmissoula.com/parks/greenough_park.php

Maclay Flats had a gorgeous well maintained walking path

I never got pictures of the White breasted nuthatches that lived here, but I got a lot of practice seeing their flight pattern.

However I did see Osprey

Another good birding location is Greenhough Park, though I was there at the wrong time of the year.

It too had an Osprey

And evidence but no sighting of Pileated woodpeckers
