Home again, home again, jiggety jig. The final drive for the week. This time from Helena to Pocatello. It’s a straightforward drive south on I15. But it runs past two of my favorite birding spots (Camas National Wildlife Refuge & Market Lake Wildlife Management Area) so I couldn’t resist.
Trumpter swans and cygnets
Mid-afternoon is never a good time to bird, but it was still well worth it with close up looks at raptors: Swainson’s hawks, Red tailed hawks, Northern harriers, American kestrels, and surprisingly an American Bittern just standing by the water. I was so surprised that I didn’t get a picture. I just stared. This was a lovely way to finish my trip.
