Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center

October 21, 2017

The second part of our day sent us to Rexburg for lunch. We chose Frontier Pies, which could use a dining room makeover but the food is awesome. http://www.frontierpies.com/ 460 W 4th S, Rexburg, ID 83440

Then we went to Florence’s Candies where we discovered they were having a sale ½ off their imperfect chocolates.  You can also order their chocolates online.  I particularly love the huckleberry cream.  Mmmmmmm https://florences.com/ 5 S Center St, Rexburg, ID 83440

Then back to the birdmobile and onward to Island Park and West Yellowstone.

The Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone: https://www.grizzlydiscoveryctr.org/ 201 S Canyon St, West Yellowstone, MT 59758. This is a place of small touristy shops and an outdoor zoo with large penned areas.  It was cold.  Probably the coldest place we stopped and it was icy so we did not explore the whole place.  Additionally we were there during an off season so most of the shops were closed.  It still didn’t stop me from spending money at the one that was open…

Here you can walk and stand and look and take as many pictures as you want unfettered by any policy.  I expect that during the regular season this place is packed.  I’d probably bring any out of town guests to this stop since it is very unlikely that you’ll see wolves in the park.  I have, but only twice and not at all this year though I visited six times.  I think kids would love this place, though there are no amusement park rides.

Did I mention it was windy?  Really, cold, moist, snowy windy?

More birds? Well Ravens, and more ravens, and a few more ravens… Okay there were a couple of Rough legged hawks on the way too.
