While I did a lot of birding this year, most of it was in familiar territory seeing familiar birds. I found it to be very handy since I was learning to use my new camera.  Having seen many of these birds hundreds of times I was better able to predict movement and behavior. I did see new species, nine while birding in Texas with Melinda: Mississippi kite, Ruby throated hummingbird, Eastern wood pewee, Black crested titmouse, Tufted titmouse, Prothonotary warbler, Scarlet tanager, and Orchard oriole.   It was on my way home from a visit to Texas that I stopped at Antelope Island UT and found one last new species: Gray Crowned Rosy Finch.
