Bear River Refuge – Jan 2022
My first birding adventure of 2022 was to the Bear River Refuge in UT. In the spring it’s fairly easy to spot 50 different species at this location. In the winter, I’m lucky to find 20. But the 20 that are there are amazing.
Northern harrier
Red tailed hawk
Rough legged hawk hover hunting
Bald eagles and ravens
Pied billed grebes
Ring billed gull and juvenile bald eagle
A rafting of ruddy ducks
More ruddys with a pied billed grebe companion
Four great blue herons
Tundra swans
Common raven
Another rough legged hawk
Common goldeneye
